Scan320, the controller: available from my Scan320 page. Scan320DB, the tuning front-end for the ILGRadio shortwave database: available from this page. B-Log, the stand-alone version of the enhanced logging module included in Scan320 and Scan320DB, is available from my B-Log page.
Scan320DB is a tuning front-end for the ILGRadio Shortwave Database. The program lets you browse, sort, search, filter, and edit the database. The design incorporates 16 user-programmable filters, eliminating repetitive data entry for the tasks you most commonly perform over and over. Editing capabilites include display of all fields in each ILGRadio database record, and the ability to edit, delete, or add records to the ILGRadio database file. The program also incorporates an MUF/LUF propagation calculator, tightly integrated with the database for simple one-click propagation calculations. Version 1.1d, posted Feb. 14, 2004, works properly with the updated ILRadio database format that came on line in February, 2004. Scan320DB can be used as a stand-alone program. But when you combine it with Scan320, my controller program for the TenTec shortwave receiver, the two programs let you tune the radio directly from the database, to transfer information from the database into Scan320's frequency file with one button click, and to look up tuned and database-selected frequencies in both programs. The design of the program allows you to keep Scan320 minimized, controlling all radio tuning functions from the mini-panel on Scan320DB's main window. Scan320DB includes my enhanced logging program, B-Log, as a built-in module with controls available from Scan30DB's main window. Scan320DB is available as freeware. It runs on Windows PC's running Windows 95 or later.
Features
RequirementsAny PC running Windows 95 or later, with a monitor supporting at least 800 x 600 pixel resolution. You must place a copy of the "Linux text" version of the ILGRadio shortwave broadcast database, Ilgstext.txt, in the same directory you use for Scan320DB.exe. The database is available for free at http://www.ilgradio.com/ilgradio.htm.
DownloadThis version of the program accommodates the change in the ILGRadio database format beginning with the February, 2004 database release. This software is freely available, without limitation, for your personal, non-commercial use.
Installation and RemovalIf you have not installed Scan320 or B-Log, create a working directory. Unzip the distribution archive into that directory. Verify that your unzipper has created the following subdirectories - DBHelp, LogHelp, and SysFiles - that it has filled the help subdirectories with the appropriate help files and illustrations, and that it has installed LatLong.dat in the SysFiles subdirectory. Create a desktop icon for Scan320DDB.If you have a version of Scan320 or B-Log installed, unzip the distribution archive into the directory that you use for Scan320 and/or B-Log. Let your unzipper overwrite the files in the LogHelp subdirectory. Place a copy of the text-file version of the ILGRadio shortwave broadcast database, Ilgstext.txt, into the same directory as Scan320DB.exe. Start Scan320DB. There will be a delay as the program loads the large database. You will then see Scan320DB's main window. Scan320 doesn't write to your registry or add any DLL's to your system directory. If you choose to uninstall the program, just send your Scan320 working directory to the recycle bin. Thanks! Thanks very much for trying my program. I hope that you'll enjoy using it.
