The repeater is a Kenwood TKR-820 driving an amp putting out 40 watts. A lot of people may think of the TKR-820 as a toy compared to other bigger systems. It may be but I find it to be robust and easy to work with. We're using a Motorola T-1504 duplexer that we have refurbished. The preamp which works great is from Angle Linear. We first used a couple of Motorola T-1507 bandpass cavities as a filter. They worked good but I got a hold of some DB-4021's and these things work great. Turned me into a believer. After putting in the time and effort into the system it's finally paying off. After the first install it took another 4-5 trips to work out the kinks. I guess we expected that. There was a problem with noise getting introduced when the receiver is active. It turned out to be a switching power supply problem. That got replaced with a linear power supply. Also encountered was a problem with a bad controller. It developed some kind of a mental breakdown. We'll just charge everything to experience. As long as we're moving forward evertime we try something that's a step in the right direction.
A special thanks to the following friends. Without their support, this repeater project would be next to impossible to accomplish.
