Hamradio Emergency Preparedness Check List (HEPCL)

HAMRADIO EMERGENCY KIT:

>> Every operator should carry these items for any emergency situation <<
[] A waterproof duffle bag [for carrying the following items]
[] A wallet with all necessary identification cards or documents, atm card and money
[] A list of emergency phones' numbers of your home, parents, relatives, friends, offices etc.
[] A cellphone and its charger if you have one
[] An FRS or GMRS if you have one
[] An HT [may carry a mobile or a portable VHF/UHF/HF rig if its available]
[] Store the repeaters' freqs into your HT and rigs [may bring a repeater book]
[] A spare battery pack (spare rechargeable batteries) for HT
[] A battery charger
[] A portable/emergency VHF/UHF antenna [may carry a mobile/portable HF antenna]
[] A flashlight w/ its spare batteries
[] A notebook and a pen
[] A small [digital] camera
[] A folding knife
[] A scissors
[] A duck tape
[] A bundle of rope
[] A lighter (match box)
[] Several candles (or a battery operated lamp)
[] A bottle/can opener
[] Bottled water/juices/energy drink
[] Instant food/snacks
[] A dining kit (plates, cups, spoons, forks & knifes)
[] An instant cooking kit
[] A paper towel
[] A box of tissue
[] A spare cloth
[] A first aid kit
[] A medication (if any)
[] A personal hygienic kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, small towel, nail cutter, shaving cream & shaver).

Emergency Procedure:

Carry hamradio emergency kit
Bring VHF/UHF/HF radio(s), power supply and antenna(s).
Go to an assigned location (hospitals/ERs, police stations, shelters, command posts and govt offices).
Report to the main stage or command post with your category of Shadow ("S") for HT op, Mobile ("M") op or Base ("B") station op
M and B should be operated by at least two operators.
Setup a radio station or standby w/ your HT
Tune your radio to the emergency frequency
Report your position to and follow instruction from a NCS/NTS
Develop an operation schedule for each operator
Carry on duties (traffic handling)
Log your outgoing traffic and incoming traffic on the logger (pc or book)
Stay healthy
Be crative, alert and safe
