Pfanstiehl model 10C "overtone", ca. 1924

I think this is probably my favorite of all of my antique broadcast receivers. I actually bought this one in an antique store! It was in pretty good shape, except that some mice had been living in the case for some time. I like the "coffin" style case- very elegant! It is a TRF receiver with all 01A type tubes. The dial is calibrated in wavelength ( meters ). It works very well. The detector tube is mounted on a spring type suspension. Check out the neat honeycomb RF transformers in the picture below:

I looked far and wide for a schematic for this thing, but to no avail. All of the connections for power go into the receiver through a plug, and all the connections are hidden under the "chassis". SO, to fire it up, I had to remove the chassis from the case and draw out the schematic by hand. All but one of the capacitors were of the "sandwich" variety, layers of foil and wax paper between two slabs of bakelite. The other cap, a 0.5 uf, was about 2" square and about 1/2" thick. The signature of the inspector, E. Grey, was still on it, like it had just been signed. Neat Stuff! If you need the schematic for this thing, here it is:
