AARO
Area Amateur Radio Operators

This document is to explain what ARRO is all about .

ARRO consists of several Ham radio operators located within about a  50 mile radius of Galva, Illinois.  We have members located in Canton, the Quad  City area, Galesburg, Kewanee, Cambridge, and many others  as an example of the cities our members are located in.

We provide several public service functions for the general public. Included with this public service is for example severe weather watching (storm spotting), and communications for the annual Kewanee Model T races.

We have a net or check - in every Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. on 146.460 Mhz if you have a scanner and would like to listen in, or, if you are a Ham, you are welcome to check in.

We are currently involved in a fund raiser to try to collect enough money to buy and operate a communications repeater.  The reason for this repeater is to increase the coverage, and provide more reliable coverage for the area. This repeater will be available to all ham radio operators who can access it at most times. When an emergency comes upon us, (when severe weather approaches for example), the repeater will be for emergency traffic only.

At the current time we are selling tickets for a 50 / 50 fund raiser, to purchase this repeater.
The price is $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 6 tickets.

If you would like more information about our club or would like to purchase a ticket, contact one of our club members.
