Gentlemen;
Our Amateur Radio club (AARO) is a group of area
Hams," who provide communication for the communities in times of
disaster and severe storm watches. We provide most of the equipment used in
these activities ourselves at no cost to the communities what so ever. At this
time we are trying to upgrade our communications so that we can cover a greater
area and provide more reliable communications, we cannot do this as
individuals. To improve our coverage and reliability, we are trying to raise
funds for a communications repeater. The coverage we are trying to achieve is a
50 mile radius of Galva. This should cover most of Henry, Knox, and Stark
counties as well as provide a direct link to the Weather Bureau. With
this repeater, we feel, we could give a
more accurate and timely warning of the storms path to the
affected communities so sirens could be sounded to warn the public
quicker.
This repeater will cost us around $2000 and thus the reason for
this letter. We are actively seeking donations from area businesses to try to
achieve this goal. We dont expect one business to donate the entire
amount but we would like to ask for a fair donation for this project to help
protect communities in the area.
Any business donating $50 or more will receive
recognition on our club Honor Roll that will be published in local papers at a
latter date.
