Foxhunting in the Indianapolis Area
Hamfest Foxhunts
Indiana Hamfest at Marion Co. Fairgrounds - 1st Saturday after 4th of July
This is always a challenging and interesting hunt. The foxhunt is held around noon on Saturday.
OH-KY-IN Hamfest - July 24, 1999.
This is the second year for this hamfest. Last year's hunt started at 2:00 pm EST. There were four foxes and winning required that you find all 4 or them (or at least more than anyone else). A fun and competitive hunt. Location is Diamond Oaks Career Dev. Campus, 6375 Harrison Ave, Cincinnati. Hamfest hours are listed as 7am - 4pm.
Cincinnati Hamfest - 3rd Sunday in September
This is the best hamfest foxhunt around. There are usually several transmitters on different frequencies, giving everyone a chance to find one. The person setting up the hunt specializes in creating devious packages for hiding foxes in. This hunt is well worth the trip.
Hoosier Hills Hamfest in Bedford - First Sunday in October
Nice foxhunt. Last year there were three foxes and the first person to find all 3 was the winner. The hunt was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The fairgrounds is a large wooded area providing lots of hiding places.

This group has a regular hunt the second Saturday of each month, except July. In July, it is held on the third Saturday. The July scheduling is to allow people to participate in the hamfest foxhunt in Indy. The starting point is Mt. Storm Park. Talk-in is on the 146.67 repeater. Starting time is 10am, Cincinnati time. This is a pretty sophisticated group, but they are very friendly and willing to help beginners.
