Welcome to my WEB site.  My name is Bill Gouge.  The storage space for my web site has been donated as a way to promote Amateur Radio.  That being said, I want to mention my involvement with the hobby -- which has definitely been a positive influence on my life.  I got interested in Amateur "HAM" Radio at a young age. I remember putting a tube-type short wave radio receiver together when I was about 10 years old.

I passed my Novice HAM test when I was 15 years old. Not long after that I got my Commercial FCC license and got a part time job at WFMS radio while I was still in high school.

I held a Technician license for a couple of years with the call of WB9ALH. I later upgraded to General, but after a few weeks in the General portion of the hf bands I decided to upgrade to Advanced class. I held the Advanced class ticket for several more years. I upgraded to extra class in 1992 and got the AA9EG call. I have been interested in, and operated several modes over the years. In past years I spent most of my time on 40 meter cw. Most of my operating now is on 2 meter fm.

After high school my education and work has been in the electronics field.  In addition to working in electronics I have done work professionally as a cinematographer and still photographer.  I shot 16mm film for the news departments of  most of the local TV stations in the Indianapolis area.  The mention of 16mm film sure dates that work!

I got involved with personal computers back in late 1977, with the Radio Shack TRS-80 model 1.  I designed and sold various hardware devices for the computer
as well as doing custom programming and consulting. I still have fond memories of those early days.

I'm still actively involved in the electronics field, but I also run a graphic design business called "The Graphics Workshop".  I've been doing that for almost 8 years.  My design work has recently expanded to include web sites.  All of the code for my sites was written in  plain HTML using a text editor.  That is about as close to programming as I've gotten in the last few years.  Times change!  This site update was done with the WYSIWYG feature of FrontPage 2000.  I guess the text editor will be used for writing short notes in the future.  I really like FrontPage 2000.  So far, it seems well behaved ;-)

This is probably a lot more about me than you  wanted to know   ;-)

I love this computer stuff -- I hope it's not a passing fad !!

Below are some links you may want to check out.  The "links I have visited" are getting old, so you may run in to some dead ends.  I will update them as soon as time permits.

Some of the links do not relate to amateur radio. It shows that hams are just regular people and have a wide variety of interests.

Since the space on this server (QSL.NET) is for "ham radio stuff",  my non-ham material resides on my domain server (wrg.net).

Al Waller, K3TKJ, has made this server space available to hams to further
the cause of amateur radio and to allow individuals to experience the internet by posting their own web pages. I got my html start here, and have since branched out into design and hosting.

I want to publicly say "THANKS" to Al for his generosity to the amateur radio community.
