In October 2004, my father (WW8W), my brother (N8NAE), and I went on a local DXpedition to
Harbor Island. This island is located in the Grand River, in Grand Haven, Michigan. It
qualifies as a US island, reference number MI076R. We operated as WW8W/p.

We had a lot of fun, made 174 contacts, and activated an all time new one for the USI program.
Look for us again this spring and summer!
On May 14, 2005, our team activated Second Island, found in the Grand River, in
Grand Ledge, Michigan. The county is Eaton, and the new USI number is MI077R. The call
was again WW8W/p. We managed 30 QSOs with 2 countries, despite terrible band conditions.
It was raining for most of our expedition, and it was lucky there was a nice picnic shelter
on the island.
For the 2005 W/VE Islands QSO party, we were active from Marina Island in Benton Harbor, MI.
Marina Island is also known, appropriately, as Radio Island. It is located in the St. Joseph
River in Berrien County, Michigan, and the USI designation is MI079R.
In October 2006, the island contest activation was from Island Park in Eaton Rapids, MI.
Once again, it was cold and rainy, but we had a lot of fun. Pictures from this activation
can be found on the USI website. The USI# is MI087R, and the island is found in the Grand River
in Eaton County, Michigan.
