On Saturday, May 19, 2001, a tower raising crew descended on my QTH to take down my old 30-foot Rohn 20 tower and replace it with 40 feet of Rohn 25G.  I didn't bring out the camera until the new tower was almost completely installed.  Not pictured is Paul/N7SDQ who assisted with the old tower disassembly, but then had to leave to attend a meeting.  Don/AB5BG and Rob/N5OIU, experienced tower climbers, were both unable to climb due to medical conditions.  Don's gin pole and climbing belts made the whole project possible.  J.J./KC5ILE and Jeff/KD5EJI were pressed into service.  They both earned their climbing certification with this project.  We estimated 3 hours to take the old tower down and put the new one up.  It ended up taking closer to 5 hours.  And I had an additional hour and a half afterward doing the finishing work and cleaning up and putting away tools.

Jerry/N5OKQ and I work over the TA-33M before sending it up the tower.

Tommy/N5WJN, Don/AB5BG, and Rob/N5OIU were the main ground crew.

J.J./KC5ILE (in denim jeans) and Jeff/KD5EJI (in shorts) did virtually all of the tower erection and antenna installation work.

At least 3 hours on the tower makes for sore muscles and feet.

We lucked out and had overcast skies for nearly the whole project.  It even sprinkled a little.
