ABOUT ME:

Hello my friend,  I am Vivek Joshi born in India and currently residing in Kingdom Of Bahrain. ( Lat 26:01N  Log 50:33E ). 

I am 35 years old, working for a solution providing company in Manama, Kingdom Of Bahrain. 

I am married to Mona and living happily in the capital city of Manama for the past 7 years.  

My profession is Computer Engineering and my hobbies include operating amateur radio, go karting and listening to  music ( I am also trying my hand at playing a keyboard ). Mostly I spent my free time in gathering information on different kinds of radio and antenna specifications. I love to construct antennas for experimental purposes and test them.

Ham was something I learned in India but due to career priorities it took a back seat, however, now it has become one of the most engaging things for me. In spite of the heavy work schedule I do manage to take some time out for this very dear hobby of mine (much to the agony of my family)................I was very keen to get a call sign in Bahrain. 

In December 1996, I met Mr. Dhiya Al Sheroughi (A92DQ) President of Amateur Radio Association of Bahrain ( ARAB )and he took me to the club meeting and that was the beginning of  my hobby in Bahrain. A92DQ  taught me a lot about frequency bands, propagation and operating instruction on radio, he helped me to make my first contact on HF in our club ( A92C )

I got my call sign in 2001 and then I  started looking for rig for myself.  My friend Adel Khalifa ( A92FF ) offered his 10 meter radio ( 7th March 2003 ) and I went on air.  I put up a 3 element yagi antenna on top of my building  at a height of 20 feet which is 158ft above sea level. 

Recently,( 27th March 2003 ) I bought a 2 meter radio from my friend Tim ( WK4U ) and I am busy in making my 2 meter antenna and I hope this will be ready within a week's time.

Through this web-page I take the opportunity to express my gratitude to all my club friends who have helped me to go on air. I will always be grateful to them. As learning is a continuous process, my journey is relentless.
