A visiting (non-national) Amateur Radio Operator visiting Bhutan for the purpose of amateur radio broadcasting will be liable to pay:
- Minimum Tourist Tariff
- Operator's Licence & Call Sign Fees
- High Power (1000W) Transmission fee - if desired.
1. Minimum Tourist Tariff
Minimum daily tariffs that can be charged to tourists visiting Bhutan - for whatever purpose - is fixed by the Department of Tourism (DoT), Ministry of Trade & Industries, Royal Government of Bhutan, Thimphu. The DoT is the Regulatory Authority that oversees all aspects of tourism activity in the country. As a rule, all tour operators in the Kingdom should charge no more or no less than the rates fixed by the DoT.

The above rates are applicable per person for groups comprising 3 persons and above.
* Surcharge
A tour group comprising of less than 3 persons shall warrant a surcharge, in addition to the rates indicated above, as follows :
- Single individual US$ 40.00 per person per night halt
- Group of 2 US$ 30.00 per person per night halt
The minimum daily package rates shall be inclusive of the following:
- Royalty (payable by all tour operators to the DoT)
- Charges for accommodation
- Food and beverages as per the "Minimum Meal Entitlements" as prescribed by the DoT
- Service of guides
- Transport to any place within Bhutan
- Riding ponies and pack animals on treks
- Trekking staff and equipment
- The rates shall apply uniformly - irrespective of location and type of accommodation provided.
The charges WILL NOT include:
- Cost of air ticket
- Rental of equipment
- Alcohol; international trunk calls
- Medical expenses
- Personal shopping
- Visa Fee of US$ 20.00 per entry payable at the Airport upon Landing
2. Operator's Licence & Call Sign Fee
In addition to the above, HAMs will have to pay the following fees to the Bhutan Telecommunications Authority (BTA).
- Call Sign & Operator's Licence Fee US$500.00 for Group
- Call Sign & Operator's Licence Fee US$ 300.00 for Individual
- Higher Power Transmission Fee (over 1000W) US$ 150.00 per Individual
Use of the Ham Centre's radio equipment is allowed FREE of Charge.
