When I joint ROARS, I kicked off with an Icom 706MKIIG that I bought during a visit to Washington in

2001. I visited HAMRADIO OUTLET and purchased the rig along with an AT180 tuner, a 20m hamstick

and a 2m antenna with a magnet mount. The IC-706 started as the core of my shack, that I started using

with a dipole antenna. I upgraded my antenna system to accommodate a Mosley PRO57 that I got second hand from a fellow member.

As I mention in the Mobile section of this web, I was always haunted by the dream of going mobile, and

that was the fate of the IC-706 finally to form a part of my mobile station. I replaced the IC-706 with a

second hand TS450s that was in a good condition, here you can see a sticker that I placed to protect its screen.

The PRO57 yagi from mosley stands out in the neighbourhood, but is still not high enough despite the outstanding performance even at the current three meter hight. Only a galvanized steel mast supports it

with a home designed and locally brewed support mounts in a T shape clipping it to the roof side walls. Towers here in Oman are extremely expensive to import due to the weight and dimension of the towers,

and the only solution I had is either to build one or find a second hand one. In the projects area of the web,

you will see one that was being used by Oman Aviation and I’m trying to restore whenever time permits.
