Last minute decided to hook up the echolink for the local JOTA, it might be ideal if end up with bad propagation again. The Echolink station (VK6YLW-L)setup was used for JOTA in 2003. Kenwood TH22AT transmitting at 1W, connected to the linear with output 35w. Station using Comet Tribander High Gain Antenna. The JOTA station was approx. 14km away from the Echolink Station gateway which connected to broadband at 512/256Kbps. We had tested and fine tune the internal DTMF (Sysop mode setting) in order that the software to decode from various rig such as yaesu, icom, kenwood. It has been proven working remotely for 48hrs continuosly.

Hey, this thing looks familiar, I think I had seen this before somewhere. *think* Yes!!! I have seen it, it's the computer mouse! These one you see is a PSK controller use for echolink Link setup, it is no longer a 2 button PC mouse.

This is how the internal organs looks like, just running on plain project bread board. It still running strong, may be in future will designing it on a proper PCB.

Power LED (Red) shown in the photo is not shown in the circuit diagram below. Diagram shown only PTT/TX LED. Please note that the power LED is indicating rig's power, not power from the RS232 port, if your radio is running on battery pack, it is not recommended to intall this power LED due to power drain. Green/PTT/TX LED turns ON when is triggering the radio. Pwr LED turns ON indicating the radio is ON show and wires is connected.

Circuit diagram I used for my echolink PSK controller. Click on image for a larger image (new window)or right click and select save as to save into your computer. The one on the right is the veroboard diagram sketch for compact size.

If you want Printed Circuit Board (PCB), then stay tune, layout design is in progressing, will be available soon.

Some info on which transformer to use, 600ohm:600ohm or 1000ohm:8ohm. Information from "PSK31 Handbook" . Simplified explanation, 600 ohm to 600 ohm isolation transformer is used in Transmit (soundcard OUT), to accessary jack, patch in and microphone inputs. 1000 ohm to 8ohm isolation transformer, 1000 ohm is to sound card LINE IN and 8 ohm to external speaker jack at transceiver.

Some Important useful setting information for Link station on Echolink. Information from http://www.packetradio.com/echolinkRASCALglx.pdf
