JARC Statement of Purpose

JARC is a Malaysian amateur radio club for the teens of today and the future of amateur radio. As teens, we are an essential part of the progress of this great hobby and we should strive to get as much knowledge as possible. That is why JARC was formed.

We are here to help teen amateurs get in touch with other hams in there age group that share common interests. We are currently based on the internet only. We are going to see how many amateurs we can get together.

What is Amateur Radio?

Amateur radio, also known as "ham" radio, is as old as the radio itself. It constitutes two-way radio communication between two licensed bodies for non-profit service, experimentation or recreation. Practically, this means that hams are licensed hobbyists who can communicate with other hams down the street or around the world in any mode, form or frequency authorized by the government (in most countries this is all modes and all forms, and a lot of frequencies) as long as there is no commercial purpose to this activity.

Amateur radio (or 'ham' radio) represents a unique hobby activity for anyone with an interest in communications and electronics. Modern amateur radio includes computers, satellites, navigation, telemetry, and virtually every imaginable kind of communications over radio. Club members can build and operate equipment to communicate with other like-minded individuals around the world.
New members with no background in amateur radio can work to obtain a licence from the Malaysian government giving them the right to operate specialized radio equipment, to setup their own radio station at home, and to have their own personal amateur radio callsign.
Students in Jitra find that amateur radio provides a unique 'hands-on' experience and a chance to have fun while learning and applying classroom theory. Others with less technical inclinations can enjoy the thrill of operating high technology radio equipment while learning more about the fascinating world of radio communications.
Everyone is welcome!
