AMATEUR RADIOCASSETTE COURSE FOR ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS. SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR VISUALLY HANDICAPPED BY KULE 4S7KG.

As we know Amateur Radio is one of the most popular and most fascinating scientific hobbies in the world today.

According to the latest information, in Sri Lanka there are 156 licensed radio amateurs, 146 short wave listeners totaling to 302 radio enthusiasts. When we compare this with the other part of the world, the ham community in Sri Lanka is very few. In my opinion the lack of knowledge about amateur radio and its usefulness is the main cause. There are other factors such as difficulty of getting training and passing Radio Amateur Examinations and learning the Morse Code etc.

To overcome this situation, I am very happy to inform you that I have developed an Amateur Radio Cassette Course for absolute beginners, specially designed for visually handicapped persons. This cassette course consists of Morse Code of beginners, Basic Electricity, Radio and Electronics Theory, Licensing conditions, operating practices and procedures.

As we know most of swls do not posses any books on Ham Radio and they find very difficult for a start to prepare for the RAE examination. There are so many radio enthusiasts who are residing far away from Colombo and find difficult to attend even for the monthly meetings conducted by the RSSL. Keep in mind these worse effected Swls and specially handicapped/disabled radio enthusiasts, for their benefit I have developed this cassette course on Amateur Radio in both Sinhala and English. I am happy to inform that in recent past, about twenty persons used the Morse Code Cassettes and passed RAE CW Exam in flying colors. Among those, there are few 4S7 general class license holders.

16th November 1997 at the Annual General Meeting of the RSSL, I took the opportunity to donate the "AMATEUR RADIO CASSETTE COURSE FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS", to the Radio Society Of Sri-Lanka to promote Amateur Radio in Sri-Lanka.
