VOLUNTARY SERVICES

I was very keen to do social work. When I left from the school for the blind, I held nine posts in various associations in school; in addition to being a school prefect and the captain of the "De Soysa" house. When I was at the Thissa Central School I was the president of the "English Literary society" of the school. I became the secretary of the past pupils' association of the school for the blind Ratmalana in 1972 and continued up to 2000. I served in that post for more than 15 times. At present, I am an active member of various organizations, specially formed to protect rights and privileges of the blind community, such as "Sri Lanka Council for the Blind", "Sri Lanka Council of Blind Graduates", "Sri Lanka Blind Citizen's Front", "Sri Lanka National Federation of the Visually Handicapped". Presently I hold the chairmanship of the Sri Lanka National Federation of the Visually Handicapped.
