Where I live ..
I live in a village is called 'Walaliyadda' located about 50km from Colomo towards the countryside of the Island. There are about 500 people living in the village. Most of the villagers are farmers. This village belongs to the Western province and Gampaha distract. This is a well known area for Coconut and Rubber plantations. The hams who have visted my home QTH know about all other tropical fruits that is grown in this area. Mangoes, Rambutan, Oranges and many other fruits are grown in my garden.
I started Shortwave listening in 1987 which paved the way to this fascinating hobby. My first Novice call sign 4S5AB was obtained in 1991 and then it was upgraded to 4S7AB with all the HF privileges in 1992.
Education : I have completed my primary and secondary education at Royal College Colombo. A Bachelors Degree with a Honors in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering was later obtained from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Thereafter I was able to complete many IT related exams and gain experience in IT, Business management and Telecommunications both locally and overseas.
Employment
After graduation, I was selected for a student exchange program in Norway for working at Siemens, Oslo. Thereafter I was selected for another internship in Stockholm Sweden which later ended up being a consultant in EMC and RF design for few Swedish companies. 80% of my employers are foreign companies after graduation. At present I work as a regional engineer for a USA based telecom company for the Asia Pacific regions.
