The 49MHz Experimental Radio Club is a group dedicated to promoting the hobby of 49MHz Part 15 experimental hobby use.

We began on December 20, 2001 as a YahooGroup dedicated to the hobbyist use of 49MHz radios and phones. At the time I had no clue anyone was interested in 49MHz, I just set it up after thinking about some strange uses of my old 49MHz cordless telephone.

A few members joined, and I was surprised to notice that more people were interested in 49MHz Part 15 operations. Quite a few knew a bit about 49MHz antennas and equipment already, and after awhile we tossed around the idea of starting a club for 49MHz hobbyist operations.

On April 14, 2002, the club website and the club were launched. Since then, more than 20 people have joined the club and the YahooGroup has more than 70 members. We hope to see a few more in the coming years.
