Text Box: Christmas 2008 I took up the art of bell ringing at St Marys Church in Hinckley. Yes I know and I think I have all the jokes..... But when was the last time you “played” with something that’s 300 years old, inside a building built in the 14th century, and weighs 1.2ton? Yet to mention the exercise and keeping the grey matter working.... Its not just counting to 6 or 8 you know!!! The bells at St Marys have a long history .

Take a look at this website for more details....

Have a look at these web sites....

Here are also a few photo’s of St Marys Church, In Hinckley where I ring. The bells are not open to the public and normally only ringers can go up to and beyond the ringing chamber.

The clock workings and the “music box” that rings the bells on the hour, but sadly is in need of repair and not working at the moment. A lot of money is needed to carry out all the repairs .

A few of the bells in the “UP” position ready to ring. The bell at the back on left is the Tenor bell (Heaviest) weighing 22.0.6 or 1.18 tons.

A photo looking up from the bells into the spire and a pic of the fantastic view from the top of the tower.

Fishing is another hobby of mine. Where I live there are a lot of day ticket waters that are open all year round. I don't mind what I catch from the small to the big but I do like fishing for Carp.

So when do you have time to “play” radio I hear you ask.... Well I am a member of the ARCC. The Amateur Radio Caravan and Camping Club. They have rally’s normally every month and, well, play radio. Have a look at the web site.  http://www.arcc.org.uk/.

And if that wasn't enough to keep me busy i also have 3 cats 1 dog.

A XYL and 5 kids!! That should do it!! Keeps me out of mischief!!

Owning a parrot can be a fun and rewarding past time . BUT—Please think long and hard before buying a parrot. Do your research before you think about buying. One breed of bird is completely different to the next! Just 'cause your friends have got one or you have heard mine or any others “shouting” and singing and I talk about having fun with them doesn't mean that you will have the same experience.

Remember a parrot can live for 90 years.

90 years of having a naughty 3 year old!!!
